The Center of Excellence for Health Systems Improvement for a Tobacco-Free NY (COE) is looking for 3-5 highly motivated primary care, behavioral health, and substance abuse treatment sites who want to be New York State leaders in identifying the fiscal implications of implementing and/or expanding TDT services in their network of providers.
Being Reimbursed for Providing TDT to Your Clients in Easier Than Ever
Providing tobacco dependence treatment services to your clients is now a reimbursable service (by Medicaid, Medicare, and private payers alike) with accompanying CPT Codes that can add to an organization’s fiscal bottom-line while helping patients to lead healthier lives!
For Medicaid and MCOs, this minimally includes:
- Unlimited annual quit attempts for tobacco cessation agents (removed the previously placed two quit-attempts annual limit)
- Formulary coverage of all 7 FDA-approved tobacco cessation agents
- Allowance of concomitant use of 2 tobacco cessation agents
- No requirement for prior-authorization of tobacco cessation agents (exceptions apply for brand-name medications that have generic equivalents available)
